Geotechnical Engineering Services
Our typical geotechnical engineering projects begin with a review of the reports that are usually required by local building authorities in order to obtain the appropriate and necessary permits for new construction or additions to residential or commercial projects.
A site investigation of soil, rock, fault distribution and bedrock properties on and below an area of interest is made by excavation, boring to look at the subsurface conditions of the soil, as well as taking samples for laboratory testing, to determine the engineering properties including how they will interact with the proposed construction.
The kinds of geotechnical criteria analyzed and reported include values for vertical bearing, active and passive lateral pressures. In addition factors are included for safety, assessment of risk to humans, property, and the environment from natural hazards, such as earthquakes, landslides, sinkholes, soil liquefaction, debris flows and rockfalls, as well as designs for temporary excavations that might be required during construction. |
